The Indianapolis Colts haven't approached Peyton Manning about their vacant general manager job, and the franchise icon isn't expected to be interested, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Manning is occupied with other ventures, including Omaha Productions, the "ManningCast" broadcast, and various commercial roles, and the day-to-day demands of a GM job wouldn't be right for him, Schefter adds.
The Colts fired general manager Chris Ballard on Monday following a 2-4 start to the season.
Manning would be open to other NFL opportunities, but future discussions would likely focus on high-profile roles similar to those held by other former quarterbacks, Schefter reports. Tom Brady is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, while former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is the team's president of football.
A Pro Football Hall of Famer, Manning spent the first 14 seasons of his legendary career with the Colts. He won one Super Bowl with Indianapolis and leads the franchise in wins, passing yards, and passing touchdowns.
