North Carolina placed general manager Michael Lombardi on paid administrative leave effective immediately, the program announced Monday.
"As is standard procedure with personnel matters, leadership, staff, and student-athletes are prohibited from addressing this topic further, and (it) has no reflection on the merits," the school said in a statement, according to On3's Andy Staples.
A former employee of North Carolina's front office filed a human resources complaint, and Lombardi was placed on leave due to a pending investigation into the complaint, a source told ESPN's Pete Thamel.
A longtime NFL executive, Lombardi followed head coach Bill Belichick to the Tar Heels and took the general manager position in December 2024. The two worked together in the NFL with the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns.
North Carolina went 4-8 in 2025, its first season under Belichick.
