The Los Angeles Dodgers again look like a legitimate World Series contender, but manager Dave Roberts says his team might not be buyers at the trade deadline and could pursue a different strategy.

"I could almost argue that we're sellers more than buyers," Roberts told Dylan Hernandez of The California Post.

Despite Shohei Ohtani being out of the rotation due to a knee injury and the likes of Will Smith, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Edwin Díaz also sidelined, Roberts said the Dodgers might be sellers since he doesn't "see any glaring needs" on the roster.

The skipper added that Los Angeles could view the eventual return of several injured players as key additions.

"You talk about all the guys that we're going to have coming back in the next few weeks, those are huge trade-deadline acquisitions," the Dodgers manager remarked.

Roberts said Tuesday that Díaz could possibly return next weekend when the Dodgers visit New York to take on the Mets, the closer's former team, according to David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports. Díaz has been sidelined since April after undergoing surgery to remove loose bodies from his right elbow.

Meanwhile, Snell, who's also recovering from elbow surgery, started a rehab assignment last Saturday, striking out four over 1 1/3 innings.

Roberts acknowledged that nothing is set in stone regarding the Dodgers' status, adding that they're "always kicking the tires" on potential trades, per Hernandez.

Los Angeles entered Tuesday with a 63-38 record, just shy of the Milwaukee Brewers' 63-37 mark for the best record in the NL. MLB's trade deadline is Aug. 3.
