Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider wasn't pleased with his team after getting shut out 3-0 by the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.
"We've got to start winning. That's just the bottom line," Schneider said following the series loss, according to MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. "It doesn't matter how you do it. If you win 1-0 or 10-9, you've got to start winning."
The Blue Jays scored five runs during their three-game series against the White Sox, with four of those runs coming during Friday's 12-4 loss. Toronto entered Sunday ranked 27th in runs scored and only generated four hits - all singles - against the White Sox in the finale.
Schneider called the Blue Jays' offensive woes "frustrating," adding his club looked "a little flat" on Sunday.
"We've got to turn it around in a hurry," the manager said. "I think there were some at-bats where we were playing defense as opposed to playing offense."
The defending American League champions sit last in the AL East with a 46-53 record and four games back of a playoff spot following Sunday's loss. The Blue Jays reportedly want to be buyers at the Aug. 3 trade deadline, but they could pivot to selling if the team doesn't start playing better.
